Alissa Eastham, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker, and earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Southern Indiana in 2008. Prior to joining the aha NOW! team in 2017, she worked with students and families in a high school setting with Youth First, Inc., a non profit agency in Indiana dedicated to strengthening children and families.

During her time at Youth First, Alissa provided support and services to help teens, parents, and teachers with issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, family conflict, grief and loss, relationship issues, and substance use among other concerns. It was in her own high school career when Alissa knew she wanted to make counseling her career. “I just knew I wanted to help people, and counseling seemed like the best way to do that. To get to know people, to hear their story, and then to be allowed to come alongside them and join them on this journey, that’s a great privilege.”

Alissa has received extensive training in play therapy, sand tray therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, mindfulness, and crisis interventions, such as suicide assessment, and intentionally uses evidence based treatments.

She enjoys using art, music, sand, and a variety of other techniques to enhance her practice, and feels that therapy should be driven by the client as each person is an expert on his or her own life. In her spare time Alissa can be found spending time with her husband, 6 month old son, & 14 year old stepson, as well as practicing yoga, scrapbooking, reading, and being outside as much as possible.
