Jenna Whitfield, MSW, LSW, is a Masters level Social Worker who earned her degree from the University of Southern Indiana in 2018. Prior to joining the ahaNOW! Team in 2019, she worked in a middle school setting with Youth First Inc., a non-profit agency that is dedicated to strengthening children and families.
During her time with Youth First, Jenna found a passion for working with youth and their families. Jenna worked closely with her clients on various topics including depression, anxiety, grief, family conflict, anger management, and self-harm among other concerns. Prior to finding social work as a passion area, Jenna received her bachelor’s degree in psychology. Mentors and research lead Jenna to social work to fulfill her passion of meeting clients where they are. Collaborating with clients to work through their concerns and overcome hardship is the most fulfilling work Jenna can imagine doing. She believes that each client is the expert of their own life and being invited on the journey of healing or growth is a tremendous privilege. Jenna now does clinical with adolescents and adults.
Jenna has received training in play therapy with focuses on anxiety disorders, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and crisis interventions. She uses an eclectic approach, which acknowledges her belief that each modality of therapy is not suitable for each client. Her holistic method allows her to find what works best for each client.
In her free time Jenna spends time with her husband and two dogs. She enjoys staying active through running or hiking, but also appreciates downtime to watch television or lay in the hammock with a good book.
