Chelsae Backes, LSW, is a licensed social worker who earned her Master’s degree from the University of Southern Indiana. Prior to joining the ahaNOW! Team, she worked at a trauma focused agency providing outpatient therapy to clients of varying ages. Chelsae has experience helping clients cope through depression, anxiety, grief, and various types of traumas. Throughout her work, she has gained experience utilizing many different therapeutic approaches, including the use of play and sand tray techniques for younger clients. Chelsae has developed a genuine passion for helping others and making a positive impact on their lives. She believes it’s a rewarding feeling to see people grow and overcome challenges with her support. 

 

Chelsae enjoys using multiple modalities of treatment, including, but not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy, and Strengths Based Therapy. Chelsae also has training in providing EMDR techniques to help people overcome anxieties and traumas. She believes in using a client centered approach to tailor treatment based on their needs.

 

In her free time, Chelsae enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and two dogs. She also enjoys hiking, traveling, trying new restaurants/coffee shops, and engaging in spiritual practices to connect to her faith and express gratitude for her many blessings.
